Project trips Gambia
Through our non-profit organization Gambiana you can book a project trip with or without volunteer work from 2021 to The Gambia, completely customised. These project trips are drawn up annually for a minimum travel duration of 3 weeks, always in the period between January and June at the latest. The project trips are possible for everyone (including students), young or old, individuals, couples, a family,... For anyone who would like to volunteer in Africa and see what real life is like there!
Our project trips are composed without to take advantage of mass tourism, ie all items covered in the trip are for the benefit of the poor local population . Lodging is also arranged locally in a lodge; we therefore do not arrange accommodation in hotels in the touristic Senegambia.

Because our Mamafrika team has the most positive experience with this lodge and it is most in line with real African life, our project trips are provided in the Nyamina Lodge. We also have a partnership with them under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 17, UN). The last 4 nights will be concluded in the Footstep ecolodge, where you can completely relax at the pool after your volunteer work. Check out the photos below.

Lodge 1: "Nyamina Garden"
Seedy Janneh, lodge owner and his right-hand man/brother Faro Janneh, have in recent years converted a large piece of barren land into a typical African lodge in the middle of nature.
Seedy & Pharaoh work together day in day out to stimulate the "greenery" around the rooms. They seldom rest, after all there is always something to build, plant or care for (the goats & chickens for example). During your stay you can participate without obligation. Fun in between guaranteed!
In this lodge you can completely isolate yourself from Western customs, and taste the real Gambia and its population. The lodge is a 30 minute walk from the center of Gunjur, but the lodge owners are happy to arrange transport to the necessary location.
Facilities: Breakfast and dinner is provided by an African cook, solar energy, shower with (Western) toilet in the double rooms, entertainment, very friendly and reliable owners, a homely feeling, more personal, low cost.

Lodge 2: "Footstep eco lodge"
David White, lodge owner and Englishman, has been running an Ecological lodge in Gunjur beach area for years. They contribute a lot to the community in Gunjur. David has already won the Trip Advisor award several times with this lodge.
You get a touch of African feeling here, while still retaining a little luxury of the West. The lodge is completely surrounded by beautiful nature. It is a 30 minute walk to the beach and a 60 minute walk to the Gunjur center.
Facilities: breakfast included, extensive menu in the restaurant, continuous electricity and wifi, swimming pool, roof terrace, entertainment and souvenir shop.
It is possible to book this lodge yourself via www.booking.com if you wish. When you book a project trip with us, we traditionally always end the trip with 3 to 4 nights in this beautiful lodge!
